Scuola Internazionale d’Illustrazione 39

In Sarmede the fairytale town on the Treviso hills, a dream has been cultivated for sometime: to discover and cultivate the talents of art. For this reason, every year the Štěpán Zavřel Foundation dedicates a special space to the pupils of the School’s pupils within the Imagery of Fantasy exhibition.

The project plans to work for a week with two teachers on a shared theme. The works created are subsequently subject to a selection for the final exhibition in the reserved section.

This year the theme of investigation is common to that proposed in the 39th edition of the Imagery of Fantasy exhibition: it is a broad and profound reflection on the image of the house led by teachers Joanna Concejo and Gabriel Pacheco.

Joanna Concejo suggests asking ourselves about the formal and symbolic meaning of the house. Where do our thoughts lead when we say home? What images appear at the sound of this world? Which places? What particular constructions? What spaces between the walls? Surely everyone feels something different, but at the same time something familiar… It is the intimacy called home.

Gabriel Pacheco turns to the imagination. The memory, the dream, the idea, the thought are homes where we imagine the meaning of things. When we describe an object we tell its story and in the same way images are created. These events are our openings, where we establish bonds with each object to pass the world and its reality. It is the imagined geometry.
