Le Immagini della Fantasia 41

The International Exhibition of Children’s Illustration, Le Immagini della Fantasia 41, will open on November 18, 2023, and continue until February 18, 2024, in the exhibition spaces of the Casa della Fantasia.

This year, the exhibition is dedicated to reflecting on the life and legacy of Štěpán Zavřel (Prague, 1932 – Sarmede, 1999), the founder of the Sarmede experience. “Horizons and Bondaries” is the guiding theme of the exhibition, which is also a reflection of the origins of the show. Štěpán Zavřel was a man in search of freedom, fleeing from Prague. He explored and lived in different parts of the world until he finally settled in Sarmede, Treviso. After leaving his homeland, he remained stateless for the rest of his life. His relationships drew a map without geographical or cultural boundaries. The choice of “Horizons and Borders” is a way to continue the exploration without losing sight of the commitment and legacy of thought.

The 41st International Exhibition of Children’s Illustration, Le Immagini della Fantasia, curated by artist Gabriel Pacheco, features 350 works by twenty-eight illustrators from 15 countries.
