Surreal worlds
Artist's Multiples
Based on the theme of ‘surreal worlds’, the workshop aims to offer a comprehensive and immersive learning experience, combining theoretical and practical skills to create an artist’s multiple.
Through a structured and stimulating creative path, participants will have the opportunity to develop their ideas and transform them into tangible works, experimenting with two particular artistic techniques: stencil and printing with crepe rubber/EVA.
The stencil, with its ability to create layered images through games of solids and voids, will allow for evocative graphic compositions, characterised by strong visual contrasts and marked expressiveness. Crepe rubber/EVA printing, on the other hand, will allow participants to develop customised matrices, exploring unique textures and repeated patterns.
This technique will offer broad creative freedom, resulting in pages rich in tactile and visual elements that will enrich the aesthetics of the book.
During the workshop, each participant will explore different book models, analysing their various structural characteristics.
This phase will allow them to refine their manual skills, developing greater awareness in the choice of formats, materials and compositional solutions.
Attention to detail and experimentation will be key elements in the creation of unique books, capable of translating the concept of the surreal into visual and material form.
Participants will create two separate artist’s books, each produced in at least two copies.
Each book will have to integrate printing techniques with multi-colour crepe rubber/EVA and pochoir, allowing them to experiment with colour combinations and original graphic solutions. This activity will be an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the techniques learnt and the ability to apply them in creative and diverse projects.
The end result will be a small series of artist’s books reflecting each participant’s personal journey of research and experimentation.

The participation fee includes consumables for the course, which are provided by the organisation on the lecturer’s instructions, because it is important to have uniform material.
