The aim of this course is to introduce to and to provide an in-depth study of the watercolour technique, with practical exercises and step-by-step demonstrations. The course deals with various themes, in a gradual alternance of observation and practice with colours and materials, with driven exercises and open-air journeys with a sketchbook. The observation of natural landscapes will turn into a path to develop control of water and colours, as well as the choice and use of specific materials and various exercises whithin the same technique.
Watercolours and sketchbook. Synthesis of the light
Participants are required to bring their own technical and artistic materials. The artistic and technical material is at the trainee’s expense.
Watercolors in tube: Cotman – W&N is a not expensive brand with a good quality. You can olso use the Winsor&Newton, extra-fine series, or the Schmincke horadam (better but more expensive).
You’ll need those colors: Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue (optional), Bladder Green, Cadmium Yellow, Crimson Alizarin Red or Dark Magenta, Burnt Sienna, Natural Sienna. Other colors are optional.
Brushes: two round nylon brushes (number 6 and 12), a wide nylon brush (2 cm), a nylon tiraline brush (number 1 or 2). Bring other nylon brushes if you already have it (and even those of bristle and the damaged one).
Paper: is essential that it is 100% cotton 300 gr, fine grain.
You can buy the album or single sheets.
Plexiglas or wood tablet to fix the sheet.
Ceramic dish, hairdryer, masking fluid (brand Winsor&Newton), cotton rag, water containers. Notebook for sketchbook (paper 150 gr), ballpoint pen, pencils (2B, 4B, 6B), liquid ink pen water resistant, rubber.
