The magic of printmaking

Relief, Planographic, and Intaglio Printing

Illustrator Linda Wolfsgruber, a longtime teacher at the International School of Illustration, specializes in teaching traditional engraving and printing techniques, from drypoint to monotype. Her extensive teaching and artistic experience allows her to guide students step by step through the creative process, offering personalized support in expressive exploration and the development of an individual visual language.

Through working with printing techniques, participants will have the opportunity to explore new formal and narrative possibilities. The specific characteristics of these processes—unpredictability, mark-making, and materiality—encourage experimentation, helping to overcome limitations, uncertainties, and established habits, while opening paths to unexpected creative directions.

Each participant will be able to delve into a theme related to the world of nature and fairy tales, areas particularly suited to the language of printmaking, or choose a different subject, to be defined and agreed upon on the first day of the course.

During the workshop, the following engraving and printing techniques will be introduced and explored:

  • Monotype
  • Drypoint
  • Silhouette printing
  • Printing with EVA foam and Woody colors

The course is designed as a space for research, exchange, and practice, where technique and imagination constantly interact to shape original and thoughtful illustrative projects.

The association offers free accommodation and support for children admitted to the Surgical Department of the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo in Trieste and their families.

During the course, participants can work on illustrations that may be selected by A.B.C. to be included in the solidarity catalog.
All proceeds from the sale of the 2025 Christmas cards and greeting cards will go toward A.B.C.’s projects.
Participating in the course is, therefore, also an act of support for A.B.C.
