He was born in Florence in 1966. He attended engraving courses in Florence and Bologna, iconographic painting in Bologna, illustration in Sarmede and Venice.
Since 1995, he has been working in children’s publishing, mainly using the watercolour technique: he also devotes himself to etching.
She has published more than one hundred titles for numerous Italian and foreign editions, including in Italy Rizzoli, Fabbri, Mondadori, Fatatrac, Salani, Piemme, Edizioni San Paolo, Messaggero di S. Antonio, C’era una volta, Cideb, EDB and in the world The Creative Company (USA), Barefoot Books (UK), Bohem Press (Zurich), Grimm Press (Taipei), Tyrolia Verlag (Innsbruck): her original editions have been translated into numerous languages.
In 2012 he received the US Junior Libray Guild Selection, in 2003 the Andersen prize as best Italian illustrator, in 1995 he won the 3rd prize and in 1996 the 1st prize at the City of Chioggia competition, sponsored by Unicef; in 1996 he came 2nd in the Scarpetta d’oro competition.
He took part in the Bratislava Biennial in 2011, 2003 and 2001, in the International Illustration Exhibition Le immagini della fantasia in Sarmede from 1996 to 2014, when he was guest of honour with a one-man show of one hundred plates, in the Bologna Book Fair exhibition from 1995 to 1999, in I colori del sacro at the Museo Diocesano in Padua in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018; he exhibited at the Turin Book Fair in 2011, at ‘Tales for the telling’ in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2000 and 2004, at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan in New York in 1999-2000, at ‘Mat-ita, Matite Italiane’ at the Bologna Book Fair in 2000, at ‘The Italy picture book’ in Osaka and Tokyo in 2001-2002, as well as numerous other national exhibitions.
Since 2006 he has been teaching watercolour at the basic and advanced courses of the International School of Illustration in Sarmede, home of the International Illustration Exhibition ‘The Pictures of Fantasy’. Since 2016 he has been teaching Illustration and Painting Techniques at the Libera Accademia d’Arte Novalia in Alba (CN).
