Éric Puybaret

A leading figure in global illustration, Éric Puybaret was born in Vichy in 1976. He trained at the Met de Penninghen preparatory seminar and the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris. In 1999, he received an honorable mention at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in the New Horizons category, and that same year, his first book was published. Today, he has over 40 volumes to his name, translated into several languages, ranging from reimaginings of classics such as Sleeping Beauty or Alice in Wonderland to poetic and mysterious works, including some that have already become worldwide classics, like With Your Head in the Clouds or Houseful of Seeds, and even Puff, the Magic Dragon, a bestseller in the United States.
His work features distinctive traits that make him unique: the fluidity of his stylization, the balanced colors that harmonize with tonal gradation, and the “watery” atmosphere imbued with a wonderful light. The result is smooth, luminous forms with a fantastical glow.
In Italy, his books are published by the Giralangolo and Terre di Mezzo publishing houses.
