Beatriz Martín Vidal has been an illustrator for over fifteen years. She is also the author of picture books, which she finds the most enjoyable form of work, and she does not rule out exploring comics as well. She was born in Valladolid, where she continues to live and work. She studied Fine Arts in Salamanca, and, not satisfied with just drawing, she also attended an illustration course at the Art School.
She has illustrated over forty books for various national and international publishers, working on titles for both young readers and adults. Due to her somewhat dark style, she is not often commissioned for books for very young children. Nevertheless, she has illustrated numerous fairy tales and adaptations, as well as works of mythology, fantasy literature, and classic novels. Her darker side has also led her to illustrate many gothic and horror stories.
Beatriz has won several illustration and comic awards and was selected for the 51st Annual Illustration Show of the Society of Illustrators in New York. For several years, she regularly illustrated articles by Gustavo Martín Garzo for the newspaper El Norte de Castilla.
Her work has been published in various countries, including Australia, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Denmark, Taiwan, France, and, of course, Spain. In recent years, she has focused on creating picture books. Some were first published abroad: Secrets (Australia, with Lothian), Little Red (Italy, with Logos), Bird (Canada, Spain, Denmark, Taiwan), At School (Denmark), Chaperon (France).
Since 2016, she has published her picture books in Spain with the publisher Thule. Her first titles were Caperuza and Enigmas, followed by Querida Tía Agatha and Pájaro. Her most recent book, El Truco Más Asombroso del Mundo, received an honorable mention in the Illustrated Album competition of the Biblioteca Insular de Gran Canaria. In March 2026, En la Escuela was published, and next year Caída Libre will be released.
Currently, Beatriz continues to create picture books, is exploring writing, and is also working on large-format pieces for art galleries.
