Arcadio Lobato

He was born in Madrid in 1955. Co-founder of the online art gallery BEESA, and of the artistic association ‘La Torre Disegnata’ in Vittorio Veneto. Illustrator, art director, writer and art teacher, awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Spain, the International Biennial of Bratislava and the Bologna Fair (mention ‘Critics in the Grass’, 1991), in 1989 he won the European Illustrated Album Award of the University of Padua. His first album The Valley in the Mist was included in the list of the thirty most important illustrated books of the 20th century (FGSR Foundation, Madrid, 2000). His most important picture-books, published by Bohem Press, have been translated into many languages and disseminated on five continents. As a teacher, he was called to Italy by Štěpán Zavřel to devote himself to the development of the courses in Sàrmede, beginning from there a teaching activity that contributed to the training of young artists such as Damiano Bellino, Elena Brazzale, Cristiana Cerretti, Chiara Fedele, Madeleine Frochaux, Marina Marcolin, Mauro Mazzara and Sonia Maria Luce Possentini and others, protagonists of the development of current illustration. As a teacher, Lobato favours knowledge of materials and tools, giving demonstrations of the boards during the courses, according to the principle of ‘seeing to learn’.
