The river reminds us of the constant and profound channel of intuition, that inner force through which we find the courage and conviction to follow a path, to create work that is sincere and true to who we are. An honesty independent of impositions and trends, which becomes the primary value of our work, its proof of authenticity and truth. Intuition in drawing, like an inner river that drives us and allows us to discover ourselves, will be the guiding thread of the workshop.
During the course, we will reflect on the idea of style. We will defend style not as the repetition of formulas, but as the condensation of a learning process in visual language, a unique manifestation of our preferences and a personal expression of an artistic identity.
The river is the discovery of a landscape, of an unexpected place in the imagination. We will travel along the river starting from its origin and its aquatic essence. We will work with water-based techniques, letting ourselves be guided by its flow. Calligraphic drawing with India ink, a reflection of an instant. The impulse of the body that leaves a mark—a courageous stroke, the courage to accept our gesture in the mirror of the paper.
Like the river we navigate, which surprises us around a bend with a new landscape, we will explore different techniques, seeking what is unique in each: oil paint transfer, and the possibilities of transfers and monotypes that allow an alliance between intention and accident, leading to the discovery of new paths of expression.
The river is vital force, energy, instinct—but also calm and serenity. Alongside creative intuition, analysis and reflection on images and processes will be fundamental in the workshop. We will revisit basic concepts such as space, visual language, and syntax. The river is a privileged setting: along its banks grow trees, and animals and humans gather at its edges. We will approach the construction of a scene starting from the landscape generated by the river.
The river is a journey; it implies movement and transformation. A primordial, mythological river; an everyday, urban river. A river of moonlight and dreams. A river of childhood and a river of old age. A river of images and words that we will create together within the workshop community—an unrepeatable space for sharing experiences and ideas and nurturing the growth of free images.
