Chromatic Gazes: The Palette of an Exhibition

“Chromatic Gazes” is a workshop dedicated to the exploration of color and its expressive potential in translating emotions and perceptions.
The setting itself enhances the experience: the starting point is the International Exhibition of Illustration for Children – Le Immagini della Fantasia (Images of Fantasy, November 8, 2025 – February 15, 2026).
Curator Silvia Paccassoni will guide participants through the exhibition, delving into the visual journey and offering insight into the images, curatorial choices, and reflections that shape the 43rd edition of Le Immagini della Fantasia.
During the exhibition visit, each participant will carry a sketchbook to record colors, sensations, and thoughts — a personal source of inspiration for the hands-on session that follows, culminating in the creation of an illustrated piece.
As Francesca Chessa explains:
“We will let ourselves be guided by what struck us most, creating colorful exercises inspired by nature and by the artists in the exhibition who resonate with our way of feeling.
We’ll talk about the symbolism and psychology of color, discovering how these tools can help us express what we feel — turning emotions and perceptions into conscious chromatic choices.
Each participant will be invited to build their own Color Atlas: a personal visual and sensory collection of hues — a small book that may become a chromatic map, perceptive diary, and creative tool.”
The workshop will conclude with the creation of a collective poster titled “The Manifesto of Discovered Color” — a visual document of the experience, gathering the palettes created by participants as a shared memory of the journey.
Technique is free. The focus of the workshop is creative expression through color and form.

Materials to bring

  • The tools and materials of your preferred artistic technique (watercolors, colored pencils, markers, ink, collage, etc.).
A digital technique (Photoshop, Procreate) can also be used if preferred.
