Creating a picture book
The picture book is at the heart of Alice Barberini’s course, which aims to provide participants with the necessary tools to design and develop a personal project.
The theoretical part focuses on analyzing the relationship between text and illustration through a selection of reference books.
In the following design phase, space is given to inspiration, exploring possible stories to tell.
Once the material to work on has been identified, the instructor shares useful strategies with students to help recognize the right idea among many creative insights.
Once the right idea has been chosen, it is first developed into text and then into a storyboard, where words and images complement each other.
To this end, compositional techniques that are helpful during the drawing and design stages will be examined, guiding the reader through the pages of an airy and dynamic narrative.
The course includes the supervised creation of one or more final illustrations, intended as the foundation of a project that can be continued independently.
