Tiziana Romanin

Tiziana Romanin was born in the province of Venice. In 1993, she graduated in scenography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She then worked as a costume and set assistant for various Italian theaters (such as Arena del Sole in Bologna and Teatro Rossetti in Trieste, among others) and created stage setups for exhibitions and events. Through her designs for posters, brochures, and covers, she began working as an illustrator and collaborating with communication studios. At the same time, she started practicing etching and graphic arts, creating her first artist’s books. In 1998, she moved to Paris. Since 2010, she has been living permanently in Milan.

She has worked with numerous French and Italian publishers and magazines: Eyrolles, Sarbacane, Grandir, Odile Jacob, Bruno Mondadori/Pearson, among the main publishing houses; Libération, Le Monde, Télérama, Magazine Littéraire, Madame Figaro, Il Sole 24Ore, Diario, among the magazines. Since 2000, she has designed and taught weekly children’s education workshops on expression at the Italian Language and Culture Center in Paris. In 2004, at the invitation of the Alliance Française in Ahmedabad (India), she designed and held theoretical and practical lessons on the language of the illustrated book at the Indian Academy of Fine Arts. The project, titled Approaching-A l’approche, became a conference (at the Saint-Priest Book Fair, Lyon, 2004). Since 2000, she has created and led various creative workshops for children and numerous meetings, conferences, and workshops for adults on the topic of illustrated books and artist’s books. Since 2015, she has been collaborating with the MiMaster School of Illustration in Milan. In 2022, she was invited by the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris to the Italissimo Festival for several workshops, also designing the event’s poster. In 2022, 2023, and 2024, she held masterclasses and workshops at the Montreal Book Fair (Canada), the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and the Tunis Book Fair. Since 2022, she has been writing a column on artist’s books for the magazine AWAND. Since 2023, in co-teaching with Maurizio Olivotto, she has been offering courses on artist’s books and illustrated books at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.
