Silvia Paccassoni

I first approached illustration in 1997 through my studies in Art History at the University of Bologna, where I obtained degrees in Modern Literature and in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage. To the Bolognese School, I owe my thinking, method, and perspective.
My contribution to the world of illustration is partially visible in the blog Dorature, which I launched on March 21, 2019. It is an online space where I share stories of illustrators from the past and present.
I consider my encounter with illustration a gift. I clearly feel its desire for research, the need for change and cross-pollination, and its attitude toward dialogue. I am certain that the study and dissemination of the history of illustration can contribute to improving the condition of contemporary illustration. The experiences of illustrators from the past challenge us, ask us why we make the choices we do, and ensure that those choices are authentic.
Illustration is connected to life and has the ability to illuminate, which is why Dorature is its name.
