Alice Barberini

Alice Barberini, born in 1977, is a writer and illustrator of children’s books. Born in Rimini, she graduated from the historic Liceo artistico in Ravenna and the Palazzo Spinelli School of Art and Restoration in Florence. After working for a few years as a restorer of paintings, she discovered the world of illustration for children.
Since 2015 she has been working both as an author of images and words and as an illustrator of short stories by writers. With the publishing house Orecchio Acerbo she published as an author ‘Giocattoli’ (2024), ‘In the tube’ (2022), ‘Hamelin, la città del silenzio’ (2017), ‘Il cane e la luna’ (2015), ‘Ernest e Biancaneve’ on a text by Luca Tortolini (2022) and ‘La finestra del Re di polvere’ on a text by Pierdomenico Baccalario (2023). For edizioni Primavera he illustrated ‘Miracolo’ on a text by Zita Dazzi (2020). In 2022, he illustrated a story by writer Marco Missiroli for the magazine ‘The passenger’. His books are translated in France, Korea and China. Alice wins, with the title ‘The Dog and the Moon’, the Giulitto Prize as best book 0/6 years and the ‘Critics in the Grass’ Prize for the literature section for early and very early childhood. In the following years ‘Hamelin, la città del silenzio’ won the Luzzati Prize the Giant of the Langhe as best illustrated book, while ‘In the tube’ was nominated for the Andersen Prize as best silent book 2021 and was a finalist for the Malerba Prize 2021 edition. She loves materials and exclusively uses traditional techniques with an eye to the past. His works have been exhibited both in Italy and abroad.
Since 2022, he has been teaching at the International School of Illustration in Sarmede, where he holds courses dedicated to the design of the wordless book and the illustrated book.
