Loneliness
To make art means to walk alone along a path filled with colors and characters, inhabited by memories, inventions, and dreams.
We seek solitude so we can move forward in our creative process and in the care we take of ourselves. At the same time, the absence of others can become burdensome, even frightening.
We long for a space—both within and around us—that allows us to create without interruption, only to realize that it is precisely interruption that lightens the emergence of our inner world onto paper, canvas, or whatever form our existence continuously takes.
We look for inspiration in solitude, only to find it in the richness of our relationships with places, people, and nature.
We may be immersed in a crowd, but when an idea comes, we fall silent, with a single desire: to find a secluded place in which to express ourselves.
And so we draw in crowded places where we become alone—just us and our art, which rarely obeys and often unsettles our certainties.
Through the use of artistic materials and group sharing in an art therapy setting, the theme will be explored in a fully experiential and live process.
