This laboratory was born after the realization – together with Valerio Vidali – of the book “The forest”.
It is an introspective project, and at the same time a teamwork.
The book reflects this duality through some selected techniques: ink on paper + embossing and engraving.
During this workshop we will develop two points:
1. IN: what we have to say on the woods. The personal vision of the woods for everyone.
2. OUT: what the woods have to tell us. The classroom as a wood or a living system.
Program
The personal vision of the woods will be a work of introspection that will help us to see what are the motivations and the intentions that we have during the creation of images, books, stories… We will create the woods and we will step in. We will explore different places and we will take notes. We will also discover the woods of our companions and that will make ours much richer. From this trip we will create characters, stories, atlases, travelbooks, projects, friendships, dreams… In this way the classroom as a wood will be more operative, sociable and extrovert working and creative space. Through this we will see how the wood is like a system in equilibrium, where a group of human beings cohabits in a specific environment. The creative process has lots to share with the surface/ground of our wood. The more we will feed it with experiences, the more our process will be fertile. We will achieve this objective introducing sensorial stimuli, teamwork, games and experiments. My intention is for everyone to find her/his own motivation and her/his own way to work. We will start with exercises of different duration, both individually and as a teamwork, until everyone finds her/his own project. Meanwhile I will share my experiences on the realization of illustrations, books, rhythm, composition, etc.
